Today we’d like to introduce you to Logan Renee.
Logan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Growing up, I was always a little different when it came to how I dressed, which made me shy to those who didn’t know me because I wasn’t 100% confident in myself yet I just knew I liked what I liked. It wasn’t until I went to college those close to me would start asking for advice on what they should wear that made me begin to break out of my shell. One day a classmate overheard me giving fashion advice and asked me, “what am I doing majoring in Psychology if I’m into fashion? You can make a killing off that!” In my head, I was like, “really?” (Lol) I always watched fashion-based movies, but I didn’t look at it as a career people did until I did my research. From there, I started doing TFP (Trade for print) shoots with friends and local creatives while documenting my looks on social media. After getting so much love from what I was creating I decided being a wardrobe stylist was for me. Once I built a small portfolio, I contact a few people in the industry I looked up to, to be my mentor, which lead me to styling news segments, NYFW, traveling with a stage play and so much more. Being an assistant eventually lead to other creatives and companies contacting me to style for projects. Now, here I am Logan Renee, lol!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
EASY? I wish I could say yes, but if I’m being honest it was the complete opposite. Some people told me no and even completely ignored me when I would reach out to work or collab. (You know social media shows if someone saw your message, so yeah! lol) While on set, a photographer’s assistant doubted a look I put together (long story, lol) but the assistant’s opinion messed up the partnership I had with that photographer, who was helping build my portfolio at the time. HUNNAYY! The list can go on about my obstacles but, I loved styling so much that I didn’t allow a NO or any other situation to stop me. If a project didn’t fall through or a partnership didn’t go as planned, I looked at it as GOD protecting me from something and I would move on (I might have been dramatic first but I moved on, lol). All the no’s and naysayers motivated me to work harder and learn more about my craft.
Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m a wardrobe stylist, specializing in editorial photo shoots and music videos. I hate to limit myself because I feel I can do it all but those are the projects I love most. What sets me apart from the competition is staying true to myself, having style is one thing but having a humble, outgoing personality keeps those who meet me around and wanting to work with me again!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
eXtra BY LR (@extrabylr on Instagram) is my new baby lol, it’s an accessory boutique I’m launching that’s based around my personality. How inviting is that? (Inserts dramatic pose, lol) Just kidding lol, but you can expect to see eye-catching pieces on the website to dress up any look you’re trying to accomplish. So look out for that! Other than eXtra, I plan to continue creating art with other dope creatives and taking over the world one outfit at a time!
