Today we’d like to introduce you to Love Atiya.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I have a very unordinary story.
I grew up in New York City and was homeschooled/unschooled from the first grade to the twelfth grade.
I’ve been an animal activist since I could talk and was always a very dramatic and creative child. This led to my passion for acting.
I created petitions against deforestation and poaching at the age of nine, hosted nine anti-circus protests in my neighborhood at the age of nineteen and became a vegan at the age of twenty-two after assisting in the rescue of a cow that escaped from a slaughterhouse in my hometown of Queens, NY.
In the year 2016, I moved to Atlanta, GA to pursue my acting career in hopes to gain enough of a platform to be able to spread awareness regarding animal welfare issues many of us aren’t even aware of!
In 2018 after booking several small and supporting roles in other creatives’ productions and having difficulty finding an agent, I took matters into my own hands and created my own production titled Pure The Series.
Pure The Series is an 85% true story based on my love life and was written, directed, produced, partially shot, cast and starred myself!
2018 was my year of creation and included the grand reveal of my photography business in which I am known as “The Lens Goddess.”
The Lens Goddess Photography was created after having one too many unprofessional experiences working as a model for other photographers. My goal is to increase the confidence of my clients and to make sure that they leave our photoshoot loving themselves 10x more than they did before the shoot started.
My main mission on this earth is to love and spread kindness. That’s why I was created.
Please tell us about your art.
My wish is that every bit of art that I create inspires the person who is experiencing it to love themselves more, have faith in themselves and want to create a positive change on their own.
I also want my art to teach people there are no rules when it comes to YOUR art.
When I created Pure The Series, my goal was to show the viewers that you don’t have to wait for someone to see your light in order to blossom and go where you want to go in life. I wanted to be a lead actress, so I wrote myself a lead role.
My goal when creating Pure The Series was also to inspire people to share their own stories. I believe Pure is a reminder that every story can create a change or an impact in someone’s life, whether it be in a big or a small way.
As an author and child advocate, my dad, Bernard Gassaway, inspired me by using storytelling to spread awareness about his passion, . He taught me how to use my creativity to express my views on certain issues such as anxiety, depression, sexual health, animal rights, religion, alcohol abuse and other things many of us struggle with but are often too fearful to share with others.
When it comes to my photography, I am inspired by the fact that I know that I’m making someone feel amazing about themselves for at least one hour.
My mom, Traci Lilly, has been the owner of her own jewelry business, Imani Jewelry for the past 35 years. She is the one who taught me how important it is to make your clients know just how special they truly are.
During my photoshoots my clients can expect to hear a MINIMUM of 50 compliments.
All in all, my mission when creating is to create a space for love and to remind those who are experiencing my art, just how much courage They too, have within.
We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
Believe it or not, I made some amazing connections during my two years of doing background work before retiring from it.
Being around other creatives who have the same passion and determination as you can be very encouraging.
Acting classes are another great way to meet people with similar passions such as yourself. There are free acting classes all over Atlanta, and I always suggest investing in yourself as well because… why not? You deserve it. Find a great acting class that you can afford and spread your wings!
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?

I have been a customer and good friend of Atiya’s grandmother, Norma. As her customer, she always made me feel special and welcome. She said she wanted a place where black women could come and feel special. Then becoming a customer of Atiya’s mother and grandmother’s business again I felt and feel warm welcome when dealing with them. I know Atiya will have much success spreading love and kindness in all of her endeavors. Congratulations Atiya!
