Meet Mallorie Robinson of MallorieNoelle Designs in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mallorie Robinson.

Mallorie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hello! I am an Atlanta based freelance web designer who strongly believes in the power of creativity. I have an intense desire to learn how to improve the web’s core functionality, and to also be involved in its future developments. I have experience in creating logical and innovative solutions to complex problems. I enjoy building everything! If you are looking for a dynamic web presence, then you have reached the right developer!

Ok, now that we have all of that out of the way. One day, my big sister came home with a big clunky Dell desktop computer. At the young age of ten, I immediately became fascinated with computers and how they work. At that time, we had to use the AOL dial-up connection just to connect and explore the world wide web. I had figured this entire computer thing out and how to properly use it for school and extracurricular activities. I was always on the computer. As a high school student, I discovered Myspace and that’s when my love for creating graphical user interfaces came to life! For the younger audience, Myspace was like the first Facebook, except it gave you full control to design your own profile using HTML code. Believe it or not, I was changing my Myspace profile quite frequently by adding background music, pictures and designing different layouts.

Graduating from high school, I knew that I wanted to study something STEM-related. I matriculated at the illustrious Clark Atlanta University where I obtained my B.S. in Computer Science. For my senior project, I had to redesign and develop a new prototype of our school’s financial aid website. That was my first ever web design project. I received an A and graduated! My thirst for STEM studies did not die. I then went to the University of Alabama at Birmingham and received my Masters in Information Engineering Management where I graduated with a 4.0 GPA.

Before moving back to Atlanta for good, my first job was working as a web developer for the City of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. That is when I was really able to put my web design and development skills to work professionally. My biggest achievement there was developing and implementing the city’s website.

Life Now: I wanted to fully focus and have the freedom to design whatever I wanted, so I decided to step out on faith, move back to Atlanta and start MallorieNoelle Designs. I design logos, graphics, IOS apps, and of course websites!

Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth road? Ha, I wish! But I am very appreciative of the obstacles that came along the way because they helped mold me into the tenacious individual I am today. One struggle for me was getting my name and services out there and becoming known. Studies have shown that most people who sit behind a computer and code every day are introverts and are less social in person. This is very true and it was hindering me from networking and telling my story. This is now a struggle that I have overcame and love talking and meeting new people and potential clients.

Finances can always be a burden when trying to start a successful business. I had to learn to budget for my personal life and business expenses simultaneously. These obstacles definitely made me more focused and determined to make MallorieNoelle Designs prosper through longevity.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the MallorieNoelle Designs story. Tell us more about the business.
