Today we’d like to introduce you to Manuela Perez.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my journey in 2014. I was 14 years young. I was in a little trouble with my parents so my punishment was to get my phone taken away. I wanted to have some type of electronic to entertain me because I knew I was going to be very bored. I found one of my dad’s old androids. I decided to download VSCO, a photography app. After the app was fully downloaded, I slowly began to dive into the world of photography. I photographed anything that I thought would be aesthetically pleasing. I learned photography by practice and trial and error. Going into my freshman year of college, my college homies encouraged me to start an Instagram account for my photography. I agreed and from that day forward, I have thought about growing my photography business/account every single day.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been smooth but it also has not been rough. I have had various clients who cancel or are no shows. So, I have been let down various times. I am excited about the future.
Please tell us about what you do.
I am a photographer and an aspiring creative director. Recently, I did my first ever brand photo shoot. My first ever paid brand photo shoot. I charged $100 for the first time! It was a major accomplishment. I am going to attach those exceptional photos. Those will be the red photos. I am set apart by others simply because I am Manuela. I already am unique and different because I am just another human being. We are all special and unique. I also believe I truly have an “eye for photography.” Creativity is changing up something that has already been created and really making it your own, that is what I try to do with all my photos.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory is always when being surrounded by people I love.
