Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcia Polite.
Marcia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a model from Plainfield New Jersey that currently resides in East Atlanta… I grew up watching America’s Top Model with Tyra Banks. After seeing Eva Pigford I was like hey I can do that! The industry has always intrigued me but I just didn’t know how I could possibly get started. I believe my first unofficial photoshoot came from Maricus Love from Wilmington Delaware. I just wanted some really nice pictures for my birthday and one thing led to another and boom here we are.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. I truly believe nothing in life is totally smooth but if it’s something you love you will keep fighting for it. I think my struggles are probably most like anyone else’s. Which consisted of trying to balance life working my regular 9 to 5 still trying to make sure I prioritize my time for my dreams etc. sometimes it’s so easy to forget about you and the things you love to do once you get done battling the real world but you just have to keep pushing.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Well about me, I’m a freelance model. I specialize in print, commercial and occasionally you may see me on the runway! I really love being able to tell a story through my work… I love inspiring women to feel their best even when they don’t want to. I’m most proud of when people message me telling me how proud they are of me or when people tell me that I inspire them. Growing up, I had really low confidence I was insecure I was all of the above. But once I started modeling it gave me a confidence I never had before. I want everyone to feel sexy and confident. When they look at me, I want them to know they can do it too. What sets me apart is the fact I know who I am as a person. And I’m only trying to be a better version of myself
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a quirky shy little girl. But once I connected with you, I would treat you as if I known you my whole life. I still think that’s how I am till this day. My interest growing up was music, reading, fashion and beauty. One thing that most people probably don’t know is that I was obsessed with forensic science. I loved watching forensic files and unsolved mysteries. My favorite channel was I.D. It always was fascinating that a tiny piece of hair could solve a crime!
