Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Carter.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Well, this may take some time lol. I was originally born in Chicago, Illinois Aug 31, 93. Eventually moved to Columbus, Ohio with my family and did most of my growing up there. I always had huge aspirations to travel and become my own boss, but like most young black men, I had a lot of hurdles I needed to get over before making that happen. Some of these things included starting from humble beginnings, to running into some trouble, and one of the biggest was learning how to move and operate in new cities on my own. I moved to Atl in March of 2013 and knew then this is where I would make my mark. I started managing local rap artist before ultimately picking up a camera and falling in love with photography. Since my move, I have met and worked with so many creatives and influential people. I have also been able to travel and use my talents to make money while on vacation. I now do mainly videography work for my business, but constantly creating new photography projects to keep my passion alive. Ultimately, I have come to understand that part of my purpose on Earth is to create visual art and highlight the people or things that tend to get overlooked.
Please tell us about your art.
I am a Visual Artist. The Photographer or Videographer label just doesn’t seem to fit what my art is and can be. Unlike some, this never was something I imagined myself doing as an adult, let alone as a business. I just kept trying and failing at many things until I found something that fit. I personally believe that this is the best way to find your passion if that is something you struggle with. I say “visual artist” because my goal is to always do more than capture moments through my lens; I aim to capture emotion, inspiration, and real stories through my visuals. I also actively love to create projects such as “The Everyday Icon” and “Cafe Bae” to highlight specific groups of people and show what makes them special through my eyes. I am an artist with a story to tell, stay tuned for these next chapters!!
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
I think the oversaturation of “Artist’ has hurt the community a lot in recent years. However, this has also helped for the best of the best to rise to the top and actually be acknowledged.

Such an interesting, intelligent and well spoken young man. It’s so wonderful to see such talent brought to the public eye. I’m going to learn how to navigate IG now. Marcus has made his family very proud. I guess you can tell that this comment is from a family member. Well, I go by “Grandma “ and yes I’ve known him all his life. A lot Of credit goes to his mom. She’s a wonderful single mom who has raised three amazing young men.
