Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Bryant.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Maria. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always had a passion for fashion and I love hair. Women that keep their hair and attire up to parr is everything to me. My mom and grandma have always told me no matter what you are going through, always keep yourself together. In 2007, I graduated from college and went on to pursue my cosmetology career. Life was great, married, and had my daughter. A few years after that, I went through a divorce and everything changed. I had to rearrange my entire life and continue to push forward and I did just that. GOD has always and will ALWAYS be the head of my life. I always knew that I had a little girl looking up to me and quitting was never an option. I can remember always saying that I want a boutique and a salon “In the same building!” I never left that part out lol. Fast forward five years later, I own my own salon and boutique. I’m very proud of my success and this is only the beginning.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Procrastinating!!! Lol, procrastination has held me back. It’s embarrassing but when people use the phrase “Me vs. Me!” I literally felt that. I’ve always known if I put my mind to it and GOD first, I can do ANYTHING! I come from a humble beginning and I have a lot of business owners in my family. It’s all about believing, having faith, and taking that first step!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’ve had my online boutique for about two years now and my salon is set to open September 26, 2020. Whoop whoop! As far as the boutique, I sell women and kids clothing, purses, shoes, accessories, etc. The salon I specialize in cuts and color. However, I do it all. Men, kids, women, cuts, styles, extensions, you name it. I’m most proud of my company because it has a little bit of something for everyone. You may come in for shoes and leave with a purse, outfit and accessories. It’s fun! The thing that sets me apart from others is I treat every last customer like I want to be treated. My goal is to exceed every customer’s expectation. I know in reality, I can’t please everyone but I’m going to always put my best foot forward and help each customer.
What were you like growing up?
I grew up with two brothers and majority of my cousins are boys. I was 60% prissy and 40% tomboy lol. My brothers of course, would disagree. I remember growing up; I would change my nail polish almost every day to match my outfits. Then I would go play football and baseball with my brothers. I had the best of both worlds lol.
