Today we’d like to introduce you to Marline Russell.
Marline, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up in a family of entertainers. My mother was a singer in her day and my father played the drums. As a product of six children, I sat in the middle as the third child, who was raised in Washington state. I relocated to Atlanta in 2001 and its now been 19 years as a resident of Georgia. Once I arrived, I quickly realized that there was a need for a self-sufficiency program, which I founded called Georgia Works, INC, a non-profit organization. Throughout this program, we held an annual fundraiser, where indie artist graced the stage for music executives called “Out the Trunk” Music Benefit Concert! This led to me returning back to school to pursue my Bachelor’s degree in the Entertainment Business and shortly after completed my MBA. I am the founder/owner of Life Gem Productions, LLC and we are currently producing a documentary titled “The Switch”, which is a look into the lives of those who have crossed over political parties lines its effects. Our goal is to have part one available to help undecided voters of this November election. I currently sit on the Board of NABFEME and have been a part of this organization for over a year.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Anything that comes easy may not be worth having… No, nothing has come easy for me in my entire life. Finances has been a struggle for the majority of my life; however, life has taught me lessons that money is nothing without order.
Please tell us about Life Gem Productions.
Life Gem Productions is a production company formed to assist people in bringing their story to life. We are looking to produce positive content that will inspire, encourage and educate viewers. Our featured film is “The Switch” as we continue working on this film, we are proud of the participants who have trusted us with their story.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over in life, I would have taken the advice of my elders by completing school early on in life and this could have given me better leverage in my career.
