Today we’d like to introduce you to Marlon Sam Smith.
Marlon, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started back in 2009 after getting let go from my corporate job in 2009. Well looking back now it was the best thing that could have happened to me. It started off a lil before then when I completed my first custom hotrod build. I always loved cars but was always torn between technology and speed, so with that first build from ground up it gave me the confidence to later pursue a career in automotive perhaps combining the two. Fast forward a couple of years in 2010 I started Sam Smith Performance Mobile Mechanics.
After countless hours of training and hundreds of vehicles, I gained the hands on knowledge to perform most of so called “Shop” work right in a parking space at work or in your driveway at your house. Because I feel in love with what I do all over again when I had my daughter. I now have a drive in life to change the future of car care on a personal level.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, not at all. Building a brand in this business is hard. Number one reason; everybody has met a guy who said they could fix something and made it worse…Sure you have.
Everyday it’s a proving ground and you can do it or not. Another is scheduling; with it just being me when I started off sometimes customers didn’t understand that I couldn’t be everywhere at one time.

Since 2009 MobileMechanicATL has been providing professional mechanic services to Individuals and business alike, although we service all vehicle types we specialize in Mercedes-Benz. I personally have aligned myself with the beliefs of the Brand “the best or nothing”. I believe the thing that sets us apart from other companies is our ability to see eye to eye with our clients on a personal level. I not only repair Mercedes Benz but I also drive and own several of these vehicles, so when a customer has a problem with their Benz I’ve probably have experienced it on a personal level so I’m able to relate but most importantly give them a fair priced repair. Over the years MobileMechanicATL/Sam Smith Performance LLC has been recognized by its clients and other big companies for having Integrity when dealing with its customers. The Amazon company hand-picked MMATL to become an elite home service provider for their customers as well as being recognized by Thumbtack.com from 2009-2012 as Mobile Mechanic of the Year, although the company doesn’t offer those services anymore they decided to keep us listed because of our great dealings with customers over the years. I think what keeps us out in front of our competitors is our willingness to go the extra mile for our clients. We go through many hours of training every year to insure they receive the very best work. I’m most proud of our ability to adapt to changing time and not letting the naysayers crush our dreams. We look to keep our customers for a lifetime not just one repair. As a small company were looking to do big things and change the future of car repair one doorstep at a time.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I certainly feel like the city of Atlanta is a great place for Mobile Mechanic company such as mine. With a metropolitan area with nearly 6 million people, most of which that only have one vehicle in their household. It’s important to have a service which is convenient but most importantly good at what they do. If I could provide advice to someone who was just starting a business like this I would recommend that they love their craft and be patient, it takes time to build the trust with their clientele.
