Today we’d like to introduce you to Mashanta Harrison “Flossy”.
Mashanta, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My vision for FlossinFit was birthed in the basement of my home. I’ve always been the high-energy person who loves outdoors, dancing, lifting weights pretty much the life of any event. My family and I have always been very competitive, always down for a challenge of some kind of physical activity. So my son and I, who is a football athlete at George State, would always workout together doing high energy drills, and exercises. My husband, who is my biggest support, would be the one who would challenge us and also record us.
I would post the videos which eventually got the attention of others, which lead to ladies and a few gentlemen asking could they come workout with us. It turned out to be more women who would come, and you know how when we as women come together we have a good time, we dance, we laugh. We cheered each other on, etc. so my groups eventually grew and my husband and I started praying and discussing how we should take this Leap of Faith and create this space for women, and a few years later FlossinFit Studio was born. We found a great location in Lawrenceville, and here we are pushing forward, and changing lives.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not a smooth road, for one, it wasn’t easy as I dreamed it to be honestly. I think my biggest struggle was realizing that everyone who says they support you really don’t, including family and friends. I have to come to accept that and take it for what it is.
I celebrated my grand opening on March 7, 2020. I had to close my doors on March 14, 2020. Having to put things on pause right now due to COVID-19. All the things that I had planned are on pause due to the pandemic. But that’s ok, I’ve come to accept what is going on in today’s world is out of my control. My doors are still open, (with a small group) I’m still able to help change lives, I’m still able to Motivate, Empower, and Inspire women so I’m Grateful.

Nothing is more Empowering than Having Self-Confidence. Being proud of the woman you see in the mirror every morning is a feature many try hard to attain but few experiences. I acknowledge that a method of obtaining this confidence comes from Embracing who you are and Hard work. As a Healthy Life Style Fitness coach, I have dedicated my life to Empowering Women to believe in themselves and know their Self-Worth. My mission is to empower women to create sustainable solutions for long-lasting health Happiness and Confidence. I envision a world where a woman can be their Authentic Selves, live a healthy life style and inspire others to do the same so we can all “Flo Together.”
I am most proud of seeing and believing what I’ve always dreamt of being manifested. What sets me apart is that I created this space just for women, and also my authenticity I meet so many women who love me, because of realness and me being my true self, to know me is an experience and I’m humbly grateful that I’m able to Shine My Light On so many other women so they can believe the same about themselves.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment would be when I had my first “Flo Together” event on May 11, 2019. In my hometown of Duplin County, N.C.
It was a beautiful event where I invited some of my friends who are An Inspiration to Me and others in our community. And we discussed different topics, we encourage one another. We laughed, and we left feeling Empowered. So to have planned and executed the “Flo Together” event I felt so accomplished. Now I’m working on having one here in Lawrenceville at Flossinfit Studio… which me saying that, makes my heart smile!
