Today we’d like to introduce you to Master Kim.
Master Kim, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started Taekwondo when I was 5 in South Korea. My Master asked me to become an instructor when I was 16. It is almost 20 years since became Taekwondo Instructor. Taekwondo gave me not only experience I went to college to study, met my wife there, we built a huge dream to come to the United States. So we did it. It wasn’t easy but we had each other and big dream. We have four children two older children currently taking class at The ONE Taekwondo.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I love to do Taekwondo and has a passion for teaching. But I had no idea about business.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The ONE Taekwondo Center – what should we know?
We are here to help each other’s lives get better. Not just teaching and learning martial arts; We share life experience in a martial arts environment. Also, it is not one way of giving direction. As a teacher, I’m learning a lot from my students and families as well. Often I say to our instructor team that becoming a great teacher means becoming a great human being.
And I do what I believe it is the best. I’m living in lifestyle what I believe that is the best and I share with others. So even my family, my wife and all kids, are getting involved heavily in the program. I think that is a great benefit for our Taekwondo school.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Be honest and humble to my self and the others.
