Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Abeyta.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I first starting in the beauty industry as an apprentice for my hairstylist. I was in my first year of college at the time but was passionate and curious about a career in the beauty industry. During my apprenticeship, I was able to get hands-on experience and it encouraged me to switch career paths and enroll in beauty school. I graduated from AVEDA Institute for Cosmetology and in 2011 was hired by MAC Cosmetics as a permanent makeup artist. In 2016, my family relocated to Atlanta and I decided to re-focus on creating my own content through YouTube and Instagram. As my clientele grows, I’m continuing to build connections and now work as a freelance makeup artist for weddings and special events.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been far from a smooth road. I have experienced a ton of challenges along the way and I know that I will continue to have them in the future but without struggle, there is no progress or growth.
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of. What sets you apart from others?
My goal is to empower, influence and connect with women through makeup, fashion, and social media. @Grace_nGlam is a place to share the knowledge I’ve gained working as a Makeup Artist and connect with other like-minded women.
My favorite part of being a makeup artist is making people feel and look their best. I take a lot of pride in my work and understand that the needs and features of every face are different, which makes each experience in my makeup chair personalized to every client. I specialize in special event make-up but also offer one-on-one makeup lessons. I enjoy teaching and walking clients through the process step by step so that they can re-create looks on their own and increase their skills as well.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity of Atlanta and the history of the city. My least favorite thing about Atlanta is the traffic.
