Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Lyons.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After graduating from Georgia College & State University with a BA in Management, I worked in sales for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. In an effort to further my career I changed companies in 2008 to do marketing work for a boutique home-building company. It was here that I realized my passion in life – real estate! It’s now my 8th year as a Realtor and it’s still a challenging yet rewarding career. Working with people to help make real estate dreams come true is very exciting and really never gets old. Next up is working to make some more real estate investments of my own!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not a super smooth road especially in the beginning. Working solely for commissions is extremely risky especially when there are so many dues associated with being a Realtor. As most sales jobs go, it’s a roller coaster.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My business is a full service real estate experience for my buyers & sellers. Having worked with mainly first-time home buyers in my career, I am a professional hand holder. It is important that my clients know they can ask me any questions at any time (even if they ask me the same one 100 times!). I want to make sure people feel knowledgeable about one of the biggest purchases or sales of their life. And I will always be super honest with clients. I know a lot but I don’t know everything and am still learning new things every day. If I don’t know the answer – I will be honest about that and do what I need to do to find out the right answer.
I specialize in several areas in and around Atlanta including (but not limited to) Roswell, Marietta, Woodstock, Alpharetta, Suwanee, Lawrenceville, Chamblee, Brookhaven, Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Midtown, Decatur, Mableton, & Smyrna.
I am most proud that the majority of my business comes from referrals. My #1 goal is to make sure my clients are happy and it’s the biggest compliment when someone trusts me enough to refer me to their family & friends.
In the coming year I plan to bring on another Realtor and potentially hire an assistant. As my business grows I want to be sure that clients are getting all the attention they deserve and feel that having some help will ensure this even more.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was pretty imaginative. I literally “played real estate agent” with my parents listing paperwork when we were in the middle of moving. As well as all other sorts’ imaginary jobs – teacher, bank, you name it! I was very social as a child and still am to this day. I dabbled in sports (barely) and musical instruments but other than that just ran around the neighborhood playing with friends and climbing trees. I’ve also always been into crafts and still make it a point to do sewing on the side. It’s something I really enjoy and it is a de-stressor for me. I also loved planning and decorating for parties & holidays as a child (still do!).
