Hi Melissa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After moving from NY to Atlanta, I knew that I wanted to start my own business & was not sure what that would be. My background is women’s designer fashion & social media. After dabbling in different gigs, I had an aha moment. I was pregnant with my 3rd baby and everyone who knows me- knows it became a running joke that I never got a push present with any of my kids. A push present is a gift that a new mom gets for having a baby. It is typically jewelry and often with some sort of meaningful touch i.e. birthstones, initials, nameplates, etc.
The reason I never got a push present was because I never found a place to confidently send my husband, where he’d know what to buy & that his gift would be a hit. He was too nervous to buy the wrong thing, so years passed and while pregnant with my 3rd, one night I said- I wish there was a one stop shop for push presents. And as I said that out loud I realized that it didn’t exist- so I set out to create it! Mrs.Push was born (no pun intended)
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely wasn’t a smooth road, but I also expected there to be setbacks along the way. Everything has definitely taken more time than I’d planned for. From concept to www.mrspush.com going live was about a year! That is some part due to web development & going back and forth until the site was perfect. Also, securing designer collections took a bit of time. I have learned so much along the way & am now immersing myself in the world of SEO, social media & digital advertising. Every step I get to, I realize there is so much more to learn.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I’ve learned so many lessons through launching this business but my main one would be to trust your gut. If you ever have a reservation about a person or product, it is probably for a reason. I am big on the Law of Attraction & any setback I’ve had I’ve looked at as why did that have to happen? Did I need to work with that brand in order to get to the next step? Did I attract that person for a specific reason? When you look at things in that way, it makes it easier to see the bigger picture & although things may not happen “perfectly” they usually are for a reason.
