Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Veal.
Michael, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Cleanit began as an idea born from gratitude. A friend a while back, decided to clean my room on a day I had a lot of stressful things going on and when I got back to my house, I was overcome with gratitude and thankfulness. That feeling was something I wanted to share with everyone! The rest of my worries were left at the door of my room because I knew I had a place I could rest and just be. That is why, I created Cleanit.
Today, Cleanit strives to bring that same feeling to all of our clients. We focus on details, customer service, and seek amazing team members. Our company is only as good as our people are, so we make sure to provide an environment where our cleaners can thrive.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s amazing what you can learn and create for free online. With a strong vision and a hard-working team, we hurdled the traditional roadblocks of startup. We transitioned easily from idea to implementation. There are of course always areas to improve upon but attention to detail allows us to be structured in a flexible way that allows for easy adjustments.
As an early company, I’m sure we’ll have many struggles to come. But, right now, we are focused on creating a client base to show people the opportunity we provide.

We have three company values that we strive towards everyday: integrity, a customer first mentality, and excellence in quality. The way Cleanit makes sure we live these values out is by giving our team members the best products, opportunities, and training available. We are currently a residential cleaning company that is proud to provide the lowest prices in Athens. We are able to provide these low prices because we are truthfully not focused as much on turning in the biggest profit. Rather, we are focused on creating a culture in a college town that promotes healthy living.
Cleanit is known for customer service, our inherently good people, and last but not least, our excellence in quality. We clean residential houses, apartments, and dorms. Cleanit is proud to provide dorm cleanings to students at an affordable $20 because dorms are notorious for having some of the highest levels of bacteria out of all living spaces in Athens. There are no other cleaning services that provide cleanings for dorm rooms in Athens. As students at the University of Georgia, we have access to help mitigate that problem and to better our community.
What were you like growing up?
I have always had a competitive spirit, a thankful perspective and a business mindset. I was blessed with an incredible family that raised me well. From an early age, I was spoon-fed “yes ma’am”, “yes sir”, “please” and “thank you.” These manors allowed me access to talk with adults, which gave me the skills necessary to mature faster than my peers. Growing up I always had an enthusiasm for life and I thank God every day for the opportunity to learn more, meet someone new and experience all that life has to offer.
As for my business mindset, I have always enjoyed the idea of turning hard work into a profit. I would go door-to-door in elementary school trying to sell magazines for my school. I’ve held a job every year since I was 16 years old. In college, I paid for my weekend trip to the UGA vs Florida football rivalry by selling over 300 hot dogs on Saint Simons beach. Now, after seeing what owning a business looks like, I want to improve upon Cleanit’s success and continue to pursue my career in business ownership.
