Meet Michelle London of Locmamas in Stone Mountain

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle London.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Michelle. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I graduated cosmetology school in 1995. I started natural hair exclusively in 1996 and have not looked back. I started natural hair because relaxers aggravated my eczema and I started my natural hair journey in 1992.

I opened my first Natural hair salon called Ethnicity in 2002 -2009. In 2009, I started working with Ledisi. I created her signature updo and styled her for the Turn Me Loose and Pieces of Me albums.

In 2012, my family and I moved to Atlanta. I opened Locmamas is 2013! It has been a success and I pray for more success.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. I worked between NY and Philly for three years. I worked in NYC every weekend to maintain my salon there.

Each city that I moved to was an adjustment. Regionally, clients are different Especially Atlanta. The natural hair movement is relatively new here and I had to adjust the “transitioning” client.
Being an owner/stylist, mother of four, and wife is a juggle struggle.

Locmamas is a Natural Hair Salon. We specialize in loving your locs and natural hair texture. No heat or altered services.

We are known for incredible, elegant styling.

I am most proud of our punctuality and professionalism. Also, we have a beautiful and delicious smelling environment.

Years of experience, dedication to my craft, and the peaceful environment sets us apart.
