Meet Michelle Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Wilson.

Hi Michelle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The state of the world during summer of 2020 left most standing still with no end in sight. The uncertainty I felt at the time was truly discouraging, soul-altering, and overall difficult in more ways than anticipated. Some days I felt defeated but most days I got up and I tried to find ways to settle my mind and spirit. I tapped into the things that truly made me happy. Those early months during quarantine was time well spent. It was easy to declare that as long as I was creating anything with my hands (cooking, painting, rearranging, decorating, organizing, drawing) I was happy, I was at peace. So I did a thing, for myself, for my home, but mostly for my happiness. I needed a creative outlet to harness all of my fear and doubt into something uplifting. It started with just one pot and leftover paint from a home project done weeks before but quickly evolved into something much bigger. Ever since, I’ve sold over 100 hand-painted pots and the occasional vases with my abstract designs to anyone that would tune into my flash sale collections every Sunday via my personal Instagram, @bigg_mich. Fast forward to two years later to the launch of my business and website, bigg BLOOM, where I hope to expand my hand-painted creations and creative services which include interior design and curation.

What a journey, I had to experience true darkness to trust myself to bring forth my own light.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been far from smooth but honestly each bump along the way has taught me something, made me a better creative. We learn from hardships, I am a better person because of them. I am currently learning how to better connect with my customers via social media. Trying to create content while I create art has been challenging for me but in the best possible way. It’s fueled me creatively, I have so many ideas for the coming months and I’m really excited to evolve in that space.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a creative that loves to use her hands, voice, and imagination to connect with others. I am a lover of all things beautiful. I am a lover of all things expressive. I have a background in music and a bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising. I like to express myself through art and color throughout many mediums including my paintings, my sense of style, and interior design. I’m known for being “big” despite my small frame, lol. I am a “big” package with big dreams, big fears, big ideas, big opinions, and who wants to live and lead a big life. I have so much to offer and my brand, bigg BLOOM is my stage to show it all. What truly sets me apart is my life leading up to now. How everything I’ve studied in my past influences and inspires everything I do today. My experiences give my art depth and dimension that can resonate with so many different individuals.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
My journey has taught me that by trusting myself and believing in my gifts is the ultimate faith in God. I spent an incredible amount of time living in doubt and once I stopped leading with that fear and truly putting myself out there, I finally started to see things align.
