Meet Mike Star

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Star.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Mike. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I studied vocals and the art of performing at Baltimore City College High school and that really took the wheel in grooming me for the world. Went to do some small features in the movie Step Up 2, and that set off a trigger inside of me. I then recorded and released my first project, The Legacy Album. That taught me when it comes to creating music, there’s usually no fear inside of me. I go for what I know. I’m 100% sure my life will consist of bringing people together and combining multiple sources of entertainment to unite. My goal is to change the world!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My biggest obstacles and challenges all stem from constantly knocking down walls in the industry. Walls make it hard to reach certain demographics in my community. For example, building myself in Baltimore, where much of the population is of circumstance, makes it tough for my voice to even be heard. There’s a lack of representation, so sometimes I come across foreign. PLUS, there is a major lack of resources to the point where I’m constantly traveling to New York, California, and back to Atlanta to make my mark. However, I’ve found the beauty in uniting through different locations using music.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I don’t call it work. I look at it as if I go to the College of Life lol… where I’m constantly learning and creating. So, in that case, I would say I major in singing and songwriting. And I not only do that for myself, I write and vocal produce other recording artists too. BUT you really get to experience ME when I hit the stage and go dumb and act crazy! That’s when I’m on fire! But sticking to the college analogy, I guess you could say I minor in Creative Direction. I’m blessed with the ability to turn an idea into a production without losing the heartbeat of the actual artist. I legit creatively direct people’s lives + careers and try to keep mine together lol.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Ummmmm… geeze! A lot is happening, but I can officially tell you music is coming! I’m working on some really dope stuff right now and I’m super excited about it!
