Today we’d like to introduce you to R&B singer Miriam Robinson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Miriam. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started making music about nine months ago. My school built a studio inside the library and that’s when I first started playing around with it. After a while, I built a setup in my basement and released my first song, “Hold yourself up”. After the response and feedback I got from family and friends, I started taking it more seriously and released my first single, “Movie”.
The more I worked on music the better it got and I started taking it more seriously and fell in love with the process and how it felt to make my own music. I recently released my EP ‘Letters to My Exes, ’ which is my first serious project and I loved ever but of the work, I put into it. I’ve been upgrading equipment and really becoming the artist I want to be and doing shows, radio interviews, and featuring on other artist songs. This is only the beginning for me as I’m cooking up some real heat now and working on some big things.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’ve had some minor setbacks with shady opportunities that discouraged me a bit, but I’ve learned to understand this is all apart of the music industry and I’m learning a lot from it. I’m staying true to myself and researching everything before I make any decisions on what to do with my brand and music.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I go by Miriam Robinson, I am an R&B artist, Mainly contemporary but I like to roam around and try new things. My music is always relaxed and chill. None of my songs sound the same so there’s always going to be a variety of different vibes to get from me. I’m proud of my versatility. It’s never the same flow, never the same feeling or same energy. I may sound like some of your favorite artists but my voice is definitely unique in the way it can smoothly ride any beat I choose from. It’s what makes me stand out so much. I may switch to pop, dancehall, contemporary R&B or even give you country vibes, but no one can ever say that whatever song it was didn’t go hard.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In the future I’m planning on really taking this next year just to simply focus on my music. Working more on promoting and marketing and getting some shows in, hopefully. There will be a lot more music coming from me and a lot of more opportunities as I start really getting my foot out the door. Be on the lookout for any collabs I do and show that I might be in.
