Today we’d like to introduce you to Mollie Booth.
Mollie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Five Birthdays ago, I received my first camera. That camera was the start of a passion that saved my life. When I was around 11, I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder. Photography has helped me with these issues exponentially in the past few years. I don’t know where I’d be today without it. My business started about a year later. At first, I started with horse shows in the Alpharetta area, and slowly, my business began to take off. In the past two years or so, I’ve been to shows all over the southeast. My photography has also expanded into senior portraits and other types of shoots. Photography is neither just a hobby or a business for me. It is a coping skill that gives me confidence. The money is just a bonus.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road to recovery is never a smooth one. and my illnesses have certainly been a challenge in building my business. There is no way to accurately depict the way that mental illness affects a person. There were days when getting out of bed seemed as difficult as climbing a mountain. Finally being able to say “I did it” is like being able to breathe for the first time in years.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Mollie Booth Photography – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
My business specializes in equine event photography and individual photo sessions. People contact me (typically through social media) to take their pictures when they are riding. If I had to pick one thing that I am the proudest of, it would be the number of people who are loyal to my business. I have several riders who hire me at every show they attend. It is an honor to be the first choice of many riders in the Metro-Atlanta area. One thing that sets me apart from other photographers is my pricing. I keep my prices the way they are because I believe that everyone deserves to have a good record of their memories and not just those who can afford it.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
There are so many great things about this city. Hospitality and educational resources are just a few examples of what sets Atlanta apart from the rest of the country. The only thing I don’t really like about Atlanta is the traffic.
