Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadine Gardner.
Nadine, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I originally started by getting the motivation from a spiritual reading I received at the end of 2018. In the month of January of this year is when I decided to start my business. I wanted to introduce a brand that not only promotes using natural products on your skin but promotes self-love.
I personally feel as though it is important to take care of yourself by indulging in self-care activities. Aligning, LLC represents aligning your mind, body, and soul.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a very interesting road for me. I started in January 2019 and since I have been just trying to gain exposure. At the beginning of May, I graduated from Florida A&M and prior to my graduation, I was trying to manage to be consistent on social media while trying to handle my school priorities, in addition to going to work almost every day during the week. Those have been my main struggles with my business, but other than that I have had no problems with the business. I love being able to feel comfortable in their own skin.
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I sell a wide variety of natural skin care products ranging from oils to scrubs and is known for producing products that not only work but have unique scents. I’m most proud of how fast my business has grown in a couple of months.
I would say what sets me apart from others are my supporters. My supporters that I have now are mostly from my historically black college, Florida A&M University. I wouldn’t be where I am at today if it wasn’t for them.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
My favorite thing about Atlanta is the culture. I am originally from Harlem, New York so coming to Atlanta reminds me of a small New York. The environment of Atlanta is what honestly gravitates me to the city.
There are so many young black entrepreneurs located in the city that it enables other black entrepreneurs to create and broaden our network within our own community.
Other than that, the only issue I would say Atlanta has its traffic. But that is what happens when there are so many wonderful people centralized in one concentrated area.
