Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Smith.
Hi Natasha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have been baking since I was a kid. I started decorating about ten years ago as just a hobby. I would share with family and friends. People started asking me to make cookies, cupcakes, cakes, and other treats for their events; and it grew from there. I got connected with event planners who I worked with regularly and most importantly word of mouth helped me to expand.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. This is my first business, so I’ve had a lot of trial and error along the way. I’ve definitely learned from my mistakes. One of my main struggles is starting over after a big move. I started my business in the Chicago area where I’m originally from. I then moved to Houston; and now Atlanta.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I offer custom desserts/ treats. However, I specialize in custom-decorated cookies for all occasions. I love creating unique, edible works of art that bring the extra wow factor to any event.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
When I first started cookie decorating. Sweet Sugarbelle’s blog was very helpful as a beginner. The baking community is so big, and there are always classes and new techniques. I enjoy learning and incorporating new things to take my designs to the next level.
