Meet Omega Tha King

Today we’d like to introduce you to Omega Tha King.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Omega. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, I didn’t really grow up in one place. We moved a lot at a young age resulting in me going to 3-4 different elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and 5 different high schools. I’m originally from DC my birthplace, however, I feel I’m more from Atlanta. Most of my life has been spent here if you add it all up. I’ve been interested in music at a young age when I used to go to the studio with my mom or hearing my aunt singing her favorite song. Music has always been around me, but I’m a late bloomer. I didn’t get serious about music until around 2011. Around that time, I made my mind up to truly learn how to play the guitar and teach myself how to record. I didn’t know that literally the next year, I would find myself working with most of the working talent in Atlanta. By 2012, I had appeared on MTV with a video called ‘SummerTime’ I felt that I had reached a dope milestone but there was much more work that needed to be done to leave a legacy. So, I continued to hone my craft and work.

Has it been a smooth road?
Not at all. I deal with depression a lot because of the obstacles that have come across my way. I think that the root of it all though is just lack of knowledge. Rather you didn’t know your song was making money and how to register it, or yo homie ain’t really ya homie and he stealing from you. It’s so many creative manifestations of negative energy and intent in this business. But my love for the music & my bonds with my Ahks keep me on this path consistently.

Please tell us more about your music, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Well, I and my Ahks started a label. But it’s more like a village, with a bunch of different clans that’s come together for a sole purpose… Music & Enlightenment. We specialize in engineering, production (audio&visual), song-writing, etc. Pretty much whatever you would need to put out a musical project with videos included. I’m proud that I’ve been able to have and build such a strong link between me and my team. We’ve really been through a lot together, so to see us continuing professionally in this business when it seems like the world wants us to quit is short term success to me.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Over the next few years, I definitely see a shift towards musicianship. In urban music especially. There’s something special about being able to express art not only vocally but through instrumentation as well. I believe that is the future. Of course, it helps that I myself plays the guitar, lol.
