Today we’d like to introduce you to Paris Kelley.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Paris. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a little girl, I was always on the heavier side in comparison to most of the other kids in my class. Ironically as a thicker girl, I was always very active. I started dancing at the age of four. From tap to jazz to ballet, modern, hip-hop, you name it, I did it. I never really struggled with low self-esteem due to my weight. I looked at it as a special gift growing up. I had a different type of bounce in my step, point in my toes and pliè in my knees. I loved the my ability to keep up with the girls half my size and nail it just the same!
In addition to dance, through high school, I was also on the swim team, so again seemingly active. It wasn’t until I started college that my weight and overall health caught my attention. The first incident was in a department store where I couldn’t find any cute jeans in my size. The variety of plus size clothes we have now was not an option then. The second incident and most important to me was the history of health issues in my immediate family. At that moment, my journey to not only a healthier me but an overall healthier life began.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
If the saying “if it were easy, everyone would be doing it” ever hit home for me, on this journey, it definitely has. There have definitely been challenges and setbacks. One of the main challenges in changing a lifestyle you’ve become accustomed to is unlearning the unhealthy habits. Unlearning those habits can literally be a war between your mind and your body. In the beginning, I had more “cheat” days than I did clean days. My mind would give me the go-ahead to miss a few days of workouts and indulge in the unhealthier food choices. On the other hand, my body, through health signs, would try to warn me that may not be such a good idea. I also naturally struggled with patience and outside influence during this journey. They idea that after a few exercise days and a few cleaner meals, I should not only feel different but look different. The thought of what supplements or procedures could help speed things along based on social influences. I’d often question the process and my purpose on the journey.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with ViivaFIT – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am the owner of ViivaFit, which began as a local meal prep and meal plan service and has now expanded to offering everyday functional women’s fitness apparel. Over the course of my journey and in business, I’ve been known for my natural weight loss, my ability to relate to other women and my willingness to support and motivate. As a company, I am proud of my ability to make healthy foods fun while making fitness apparel fashionable. What sets me apart from others is within in the company name itself. As a double entendre, Viva in Italian means long live, while the acronym V.I.I.V.A means “victory is in vision and action.” To know that a healthier life is not only attainable but through proper preparation and dedication to yourself, it can be attained more abundantly!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am looking forward to more engagements and success stories of women just like me! I see ViivaFIT becoming a household name centered around sisterhood, growth and healthy living! Within the next 5-7 years, I can definitely see ViivaFIT opening a gym! The biggest change coming in the near future is the official apparel launch on November 1, 2020.
