Today we’d like to introduce you to Patti Pan.
Hi Patti, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am not a visual artist, but I am a big fan of art. During my MBA, I had the idea for RevArt. Prior to that, I worked for a wealthy family, managing commercial real estate and retail operations. My former employer is one of the world’s top collectors, so I’ve had the opportunity to work with artists and incorporate art into businesses such as commercial real estate, digital interaction, and art gift stores. During my MBA, some of my former artist friends contact me and ask me pricing and business development questions. I realized that even successful artists require business support, which many of them do not have. That is the inspiration for RevArt, a platform that connects artists with businesses. Like any aspiring artist, I experimented with various methods to explore and break into the art world. Fortunately, a group of artists in Virginia and California support me and join me on my exploration journey.
I must admit that starting a new business in the art industry is not easy, especially when you are starting from scratch. Many of my attempts were unsuccessful. Until I was invited to a coworking space to host exhibitions one day. Even though it was during covid and we had strict social distancing rules, that show drew over 200 people. It made me wonder if I could expand on this model. With my real estate experience, I also understand the primary concerns of businesses in that industry. That is the foundation of the joint gallery and pop-up gallery business models. We pitched our idea to Greystar, one of the largest real estate companies in the United States. They chose to give us a chance. Our Atlanta show draws a lot of attention, not only in person but also on social media. People rave about the concept and the show. Many people in the audience encourage us to keep doing so. They also discuss their personal connections to the artworks. We had visitors in tears after hearing the artists’ stories. That’s the power of art, I realized, and it’s why I keep doing it. I want to connect with the Atlanta community, bring different artworks and styles to the space, and create a space where people can have dialogues. Our mission is to make global art accessible to everyone. It is also significant for us at the Atlanta RevArt gallery. We want people to feel at ease in the gallery and understand that art is an integral part of our daily lives.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Certainly not. We need to figure out your business model in the same way that struggling young artists do. In the art world, there are two major paths. The first is selling expensive artwork to high-net-worth individuals. The other option is to sell affordable art to the commonwealth. We chose the second option because we believe that art should not be limited to the wealthy and powerful. Everyone deserves to have something lovely in their home. However, because our art is still much more expensive than Walmart’s cheap art because it is original and unique, finding the right buyer and enabling them to discover the beauty behind original art is important and difficult.
That is why we always have art talks and workshops during our openings so that people can interact with art. We assist people in connecting with those pieces.
Our main challenge and job with companies is to help them realize the impact art can have on their brand and community. We also attempt to quantify the impact that art can have.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
RevArt is a platform connecting artists with companies for opportunities. We assist artists in obtaining exhibition, public art, and licensing opportunities. We also assist them in pricing and selling artwork. Managing an art business can be chaotic and overwhelming, which is why we created an art business management system for artists, allowing them to have a virtual studio manager to help with administrative tasks.
We are an artist-friendly company that develops businesses and products based on the needs of artists. We also welcome minority and female artists. That group accounts for more than 65% of RevArt’s artists. We are also a technologically oriented agency platform. We use AI technology to make it easier for our partners and collectors to select artwork. At the same time, our system for artists is simple to use, allowing us to build a large database of artworks.
We are excited to work with any company or individual collector or patron who wishes to purchase art or support artists. We provide assistance with everything from art consulting to placemaking. We also welcome all types of visual artists; please see our artist program for more information.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Establish a joint-gallery with us as long as you have a space have white walls, we can turn into something full of art and miracle; support a public art project which will bring traffic to your business; hire an artist for an event or commission artwork to tell your brand story; or begin collecting and investing in artworks.
