Today we’d like to introduce you to Pete Stresser.
Pete, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all starts with my foundation of faith, family, and perseverance. My pharmaceutical career started 20 years ago when I was asked to interview for a sales position in rural Georgia for Pfizer after a pickup basketball game. Proof that you never know when and where opportunity will present itself. I then spent most of the next 20 years of my career garnering more experience and positions with greater experience that gave me exposure to many of the functional areas of pharmaceuticals.
Over these years I was able to gain valuable experience in sales, training, operations, marketing, and management working for pharmaceutical companies both large and small. About seven years ago I decided that I wanted to run my own pharmaceutical company. Attempt after attempt failed or simply fizzled out over time. Then in February 2017, I was given the opportunity to come in as the President of Canton Laboratories.
The various positions that I have held over the years along with overcoming many challenges has prepared me for this important opportunity to build and lead the growth for Canton.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have been numerous challenges and struggles throughout my career as everyone has. Success isn’t defined by an absence of challenges and disappointments; rather it is the process of overcoming challenges that define success. Challenges are no more than speed bumps on your way to your ultimate goal.
