Today we’d like to introduce you to Preston “Prizzie” Reid.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Preston “Prizzie”. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a native of Chicago, I was born the son of a musician and was introduced to music as well as electronics at a very early age. Shortly after attending Columbia College Chicago, I set sights for the music scene in Los Angeles where I gained a name for myself. Since then I relocated to Atlanta, GA where went and interned at Silent Sound Studios under Thom Kidd and Miles Walker.
After successfully interning and assisting, I went freelance soon partnering with Tricky Stewart and Redzone Entertainment, also working alongside 4x Grammy-winning engineer Sam Thomas. I currently am Tricky’s full-time engineer and primarily focus on mixing records.
Has it been a smooth road?
Absolutely not! Every step of the way is a struggle. between losing money, friends, relationships… It truly makes you look in the mirror. However. Through it all, if you love it enough….. You’ll always keep going.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the MixedbyPrizzie story. Tell us more about the business.
Mixing. My focus has been that for as long as I can remember. Yes, I can be a jack of all trades as well. But my focus is and will be mixing. I love it. I think its just the way I’m programmed. Its the perfect marriage between being a musician and a scientist.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I hope it goes up in quality.
