Meet Rae Johnson of Johnson Signature Homes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rae Johnson.

Rae, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It all began in middle school, where I really started to realize that knowledge, entrepreneurship, and wealth is power. At that point, I studied harder and continuously thought of ways to progress. I graduated a year early from high school and went straight into college. A couple of months into college, I turned 17 and started working at an Engineering firm and had my first house built. When I moved into my home, I realized I had a passion for real estate and sought to become an investor. Well, like many others, “life” happened, and I had to put my investor dreams on hold. Fast forward ten years, I got married and decided to sell my house. I took that as an opportunity to learn about the back end of a real estate transaction because at this point, I was thinking about becoming a Realtor.

My house was sold, we moved, and started the building process for a new home. I made it a point to go to the home every single day – no exaggeration – because I was in love with the process. My husband made a comment to me about becoming a Realtor since I am detailed oriented, I genuinely care about people, and love real estate so much. I took the leap of faith and decided I am destined to help make other people’s real estate dreams come true. I currently service Atlanta, down to Warner Robins, and over to Conyers. Now I make it a point to educate those looking for homes, selling their home, preparing for homeownership, as well as those that already own a home. I sincerely love Atlanta and the opportunity it brings entrepreneurs.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Like many others, at one point, our company lost a contract and we were all laid off. I thought I would lose my house and everything I owned, but instead, I fought harder. At one point, I started my own jewelry business but later decided that it was not my passion. After closing the online business, I worked hard to position myself to do real estate. I was working as a Project Manager and decided to go back to school for business, where I received my Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a 3.9 GPA. I knew I needed business knowledge and to tweak my mindset to allow me to run a successful business. After obtaining my degree, I understood what did not work in my prior business. Long story short, it has not been a smooth – like at all. However, I do believe that the obstacles have shaped me into the person I am today and has given me the strength to push forward.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Johnson Signature Homes – what should we know?
I am the owner of Johnson Signature Homes, which is a Real Estate company focused on assisting clients with their purchasing, selling, and leasing needs. We are a client-centric business that consistently strives for perfection. My brokerage is eXp Realty and they have been extremely helpful in giving my business the extra boost and support it needs to be successful. I really try not to specialize in just one or two things. I pride myself on my versatility and forward-thinking. Since I am licensed in the entire state of Georgia, I can assist people with buying, selling, leasing, land, commercial, and/or investment properties. Before I became a Realtor, I had multiple experiences where Realtors would not respond timely or at all; they made me feel like I was just another number or paycheck, and they weren’t truly providing value.

So when I started my own real estate company, I knew that customer service is extremely important and I never wanted to make someone feel the way I did. The thing that sets me apart from others is the fact that I treat every transaction as if it were my own, and fight for my clients to get the best deal possible. I am also someone that will continuously check-in to ensure all questions are answered, your transaction is going through smoothly, and most of all you are comfortable and excited. My client’s experience is number 1 in my book – if they did not have a good experience, then I did not do my job as their trusted advisor. This is what makes me so different from other Realtors.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My husband, family, and friends get all the praise! My husband is always pushing me to be the best version of myself and genuinely wants to see me win. My parents have ALWAYS been my number one supporter and have both been in high-level management and entrepreneurial positions. I speak with them multiple times a day and can call my dad at 3 am to talk through an idea I have. My family is extremely close, so we are always supporting one another and cheering each other on. My friends are entrepreneurs and we all support each other’s businesses and constantly discuss ways we can get better. It is crazy having the amount of support I have – truly a blessing.
