Today we’d like to introduce you to Rasheeda Jones.
Rasheeda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Jazz-E-Jars started as a stress reliever and a craft activity with my daughter. We would sit on the back porch and decorate 8oz mason jars with paint, glitter, and stones. My husband suggested I make candles with empty jars. So I started researching and watching tutorials on candle making. I chose soy candles because of the clean burn and scent throw. Jars are easy to clean once the candle is gone. I gave candles to my family and neighbors. In turn, there was a request to purchase. I eventually started vending in Atlanta and selling online.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It is finding a creative medium. Learning my audience was a task. Although I find decorating jars was therapeutic for me. When it comes it comes candles, some people were not into the glitter and stone. Then there were some that loved the decorations.
Tell us more about the business.
I make wonderfully scented soy candles in sleek, cute, and uniquely decorated jars and glasses that can be used as keepsakes once the candle is gone. Jazz-E-Jars candles set the mood with style.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I was able to turn a therapeutic activity into a business I absolutely love. I have always been a candle lover. But knowing how do make my own is double the pleasure.
