Today we’d like to introduce you to Reba Liddy & Chantelle Morgan.
Hi Reba & Chantelle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As two Caribbean-American women, we created Alinone Weddings & Events to provide our clients with an unforgettable, unmatched celebration. We strive to elevate your event to the next level with every intricate detail.
We are currently planning the For the Culture Festival in Atlanta at the Legacy Center. We wanted to turn our pain into a movement and celebrate Black joy and our beautiful culture. This event was conceptualized in June 2020, we were tired of taking on the heaviness of feeling unseen and unheard. We wanted to turn it around and celebrate the beauty, freedom and culture of Black people. This event will promote black-owned businesses, community activists and local artists. We plan on donating a percentage of our proceeds to two local causes for combating sex trafficking and advancing prostate cancer research.
When we were planning out this event, we came up with the motto, “Juneteenth is more than just a day, it’s a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by our ancestors to have the freedom to live, to own, to educate, and to excel in a society that was built by us, but not for us.”
We are doing this for us.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like many other companies, the pandemic forced us to reassess our business and find creative ways to impact our community, while keeping our doors open.
Thankfully, we’ve had the opportunity to continue our services and partner with other black-owned businesses.
Although we have overcome the adversity of the pandemic, we are looking to grow our business to the next level and we hope to continue to create more partnerships and increase our overall clientele.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a full-service planning company. We plan corporate, social and educational events. Our services span from planning baby showers, weddings, galas, luncheons or birthday parties. We hope to be an inspiration to other black girls and women that may be interested in starting their own business.
What sets us apart from other businesses is our integrity and loyalty to our clients. We will always operate in their best interest.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
We met in college and although we have had different upbringings, we bonded because of our honesty and loyalty.
Our family and friends have always taught us the importance of hard work and faith. As extroverts, it is very natural for us to meet new people and explore what life has to offer.
We try to surround ourselves with like-minded people in hopes of building generational wealth and leaving behind a legacy.
