Today we’d like to introduce you to Regina Hill.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Regina. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born and raised in Freeport, NY (Long Island). I am married to an amazing man, V Hill, I have a 28 years old son, a nine years old son and an eight years old grandson. I have lived in the Atlanta area for 19 years and I love it. Growing up, I thought who would ever want to move away from New York until I moved away. Moving here was a blessing for myself and my entire family.
My journey to massage therapy was a very interesting trip. I didn’t have my first massage until age 30. After I moved to Atlanta several family members followed. As they arrived, I would always suggest that they go to Medix school which was on Cobb Parkway in Smyrna, GA. I didn’t have any affiliation with this school other than passing by it daily to and from work. So three different relatives attended this school in various programs. Awesome! Years passed and now I’m searching for my purpose in life. I have always enjoyed what I’ve done professionally but now I’m 35 and seeking my God-given talent or purpose. During this time my cousin and I toiled with the idea of opening a hair salon, as we both were cosmetologist in our past lives for short stints. That was a brief thought. I started reading “The Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren, as I said I was on a quest for my purpose. I now notice that massage is showing up everywhere. Then one day a commercial comes on for Medix, the school I sent the family members to previously, introducing their new massage therapy program. That was a sign to me that this was the plan God had for my life. I enrolled in school, only after my mother was sure she would be retiring and moving here to be in the home with my then 15 years old son in the evenings. That was the best decision of my life. Working full time from 8:30 am – 5 pm then rushing over to school to be there from 6 pm – 11pm, Monday-Friday never felt daunting. I enjoyed the challenge. I have done many programs in the past and this was different. It felt right.
I worked and went to school for 12 months. I finished the program and waited for the next step. During the waiting process, I decided that in order for this to come to pass in my life I must do something everyday pertaining to massage. I did just that. In January of 2007, I felt the need to pray for my exit date from my corporate job. I waited and one day in March the date 4/13/07 came to mind. So I gave my three week notice. To be honest it was time to go with or without a plan. I worked at various places just to find the right place for me in the world of Massage Therapy. Medical or Therapeutic Massage was it! I worked for a Chiropractic office for eight years with an awesome staff of Doctors and Admins. I then started my own practice in the Cobb Galleria Office park in 2013, which was a success. I am now in Tyrone, GA which is a hidden Gem. I’m excited to embark on this new challenge of growing my business and creating great relationships with the people in the Peachtree City Bubble.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My brother once said to me that I was the only person that he ever knew to pick up and change their entire career field and never look back. My response to that was I prayed for my purpose so I have to move forward as if this is what God has for me to do. It hasn’t been an easy road and the journey is still forward marching but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Some of the struggles are industry wide in nature. Massage Therapy or wellness in general can seem as a luxury to some. We have busy seasons we have very slow seasons. Finding the right marketing or the right person to refer you to everyone they know is always a challenge. It’s a challenge that you have to be ready to face head on.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Total You Wellness Center – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Total You Wellness was created to treat the whole person. My vision, purpose and promise is that women around the world are empowered in their health and wellness. In my practice I treat all people but I do feel that women are the center of the family unit and when we do and know better our families benefit from the knowledge.
I have studied Massage Therapy as that is my first love. I am a personal trainer and weight management consultant. I am a wealth of knowledge waiting to pour into anyone’s life I touch.
I specialize in “You” what is it that you, as a client laying on my table, need. I believe the body speaks to me. Clients say all the time “you can feel that”? Yes, that’s what I do. I am the muscle knot whisperer. Lol. I absolutely love being able to relieve clients of pain and stress in their bodies. Head and neck pain is my specialty.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My one year anniversary is coming up at the end of this year and I’m implementing new therapies. I will offer Cryoslimming and Cryotoning with the new CryoSkin unit that I will train for at the end September. This system will help reduce cellulite, freeze fat (that your body will eliminate) and Body contouring. Most importantly for me as a therapist there is a pain function and I will be able to do cryotherapy with my massage clients as well. I tell everyone that I lay my hands on that ice can be their best friend. Now I will have the ability to do that in the office for them and not leave it up to them to not do it at home. No one ever ice’s because heat feels so much better.
