Meet Rene’ Flagg of True Identity House of Refuge in Southeast Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rene’ Flagg.

Rene’, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am recently a retired RN who kept a life-changing secret for over 30 years!

I was the youngest of three children and was reared by my mother who in the 1960s owned six homes while working as a full-time statistician at the Federal Reserve Bank in New York.

My mother suffered from menopausal paranoid schizophrenia, which rendered us homeless. I was in college at the time and I managed to keep that a secret for nearly 34 years! “Suffering in silence” was a norm for me and easily identifiable. So many women from all walks of life suffer in silence. We give to everyone else until depletion.

My life is devoted to helping women who suffer from fear, depression, anxiety, anger, grief or PTSD to know their True Identity which is NOT defined by what they do or their circumstances.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, a week after obtaining non-profit status (which I did myself), I developed breast CA.

How is that for showing that WE ARE NOT DEFINED BY OUR CIRCUMSTANCES!!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with True Identity House of Refuge – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Counseling… a place where women can come to understand their life’s purpose.

Our vision is to provide a place of refuge… not a shelter… but a home. Sometimes, we have to get away from our circumstances to see things clearer and become stronger. We will have a multidisciplinary approach to include individual counseling, group sessions, financial planning, job skills training, long-term goal development, and home management.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Finding the RIGHT property for purchase. A place that will provide the serenity needed, a place of emotional rest, a place to be renewed and refreshed.

The BIG picture… a CAMPUS… I am looking forward to helping as many women as possible find their TRUE IDENTITY.
