Today we’d like to introduce you to Resie Foreman.
Resie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is Resie Foreman. I’m a native Houstonian who relocated to Atlanta, GA five years ago. I’ve been a small business owner and entrepreneur for almost 20 years. I’m currently a Commercial Loan Broker & Business Coach known professionally as The Corporate Credit Coach. I teach entrepreneurs and small business owners how to acquire credit and funding for their business as a corporation.
I developed my passion as a small business owner when my husband and I decided to open a transportation company in the early 2000s. Coming from a family of truckers, my husband had knowledge and insight into the business, but we had no idea where to start. I was also currently in college, pursuing my degree in logistics and transportation management at Sullivan University. I learned everything I could about the transportation business and even attended a Trade School on the side to learn more. I successfully ran a mom and pop trucking company that employed ten freight agents and over 50 truck drivers. It was during this time that I skillfully learned how to build credit for my business and then leverage that credit to gain access to thousands of dollars in working capital and funding.
I owned & operated my trucking business for over seven years but our transportation company would ultimately succumb to the economic crisis of 2008. Mom and Pop companies like mine were hit the hardest. Product and Raw Material manufacturers were going out of business, left and right – leaving us with little to no freight to haul. It was a struggle to try and compete with bigger, trucking companies. We did the only thing we knew to do at the time to keep our family from losing everything and employees from losing their jobs. We sold our trucking company to a bigger company and used the proceeds towards other business ventures. Since that time, I have gone on to own and operate 10 businesses to include two family owned restaurants, a real estate investment firm, clothing boutique, & mall kiosks. When you are a small business owner, it’s an absolute must that you have more than 1 Iron in the fire so that when one venture is not paying you, the other one will.
I continue to help countless other small business owners launch brands, obtain business credit, acquire and grow businesses in various different industries. My passion has been and always will be for small business owners. I believe they are the “backbone” of our country because I’ve been a small business owner. I AM a small business owner. I love to see small business owners not only survive their first few years in business but continue to thrive, especially considering that the average small business fails within the first few years! Most of them fail due to a lack of capital. This is why I love what I do. I feel I was put here to help other small business owners navigate the often unfamiliar & uncertain territory of running a small business.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been easy. I have had to survive the economic crisis of 2008, a recession, employee layoffs, and a business fire that ended up being a total loss, but through it all, I never lost hope! I held on to my faith in God, belief in myself and continued to persevere.
The Corporate Credit Coach – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m a Business Coach and Consultant known professionally as The Corporate Credit Coach. I teach entrepreneurs and small business owners how to acquire credit and funding for their business as a corporation. I also own a Commercial Loan Brokerage Company named Corporate Capital Funding Solutions. I’m most proud of the fact that I get to work with small business owners and help them when they need access to working capital for their business. What sets me apart from other business coaches is that I know what lenders and funding sources are looking for. I also have over 100 funding sources at my disposal. I can help my clients build their credit the right way and then prepare them to apply for funding. They are more likely to get approval than going at it alone. Building credit for a business requires a strategy!
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moments of my career is whenever I can hear from a client three magic words “I got approved “
