Meet Richard King

Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard King.

Hi Richard, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started amateur wrestling when I was in high school. Then when I was 16, I found a school and started training in professional wrestling. I made my pro debut on November 16th, 2017 and I’ve been going ever since. I’ve also started competing in bodybuilding. I recently did my first show walking away with first in classic physique and best posing of the day.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. One common bump that we’ve all had to deal with was the pandemic. The wrestling world was basically shut down aside from some of the bigger companies doing empty arena shows. It was definitely a weird and challenging time. On top of that, I struggled with anxiety a lot which made me take a break from both wrestling and lifting to get better and focus up. I feel like I’m just now hitting my stride!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a professional wrestler on the Indy scene. Meaning I am not signed to any one company, giving me free range to work anywhere. I’ve had the opportunity to work for companies and shows like AEW, NXT, RAW and Smackdown. In terms of accomplishments, I’ve been able to share the ring with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express and most recently being able to share the ring with Caprice Coleman at Battleslam in Atlanta

What’s next?
A recent big change for me was moving on from tag team wrestling and becoming a full-time singles wrestler. I completely changed my character going from “The Accuser Richard King”, this dark cyberpunk/Bladerunner character to “The Adonis Richard King”. This character believes he is the epitome of perfection and the only one who knows what’s right for the world. I want to see how far I can take the Adonis, see what I can evolve it into. I want to work some on the biggest stages there are! Wrestlemania and Wrestle Kingdom being the big two.
