Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Rainbow.
Robert, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My love of photography began when around age 11 as I would borrow my Mom’s camera and use all her film taking various photos of nature and animals. As an adult, I started attending various workshops and photography groups where I really honed my skills.
That passion continues to this day, now primarily through the art of portraiture. I love the challenge of revealing the genuine truth in each subject and in each moment. When captured well, a still image can tell a subject’s story better than any other medium.
Today as a full-time photographer, I focus on editorial and fashion photography. My clientele consists of athletes, teens and models/actors.
Has it been a smooth road?
It is a struggle to balance my love for art with the “business”. My true desire is to be out taking photos every day whether it was for profit or not, but I know that I need to spend time working on marketing and finance in order to thrive.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Robert Rainbow Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m an editorial and portrait photographer based in Atlanta with expertise in fitness, lifestyle, and commercial shoots. I travel throughout the country, working with various clients and brands.
One of my specialties is working with teen athletes where my work highlights the effort they have put into their sport. Ultimately creating editorial photos that celebrate their hard work and provide an opportunity to showcase it. Some of this work has been in the form of group photo shoots working with brand ambassadors for various teen athletic apparel.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I’m definitely seeing a demand where brands/clients are not only interested in photography, but want video material from my shoots.
