Meet Robin Charles-Living of Unrivaled Media Group in South Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Charles-Living.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am originally from St. Martinville, LA. I moved to the Atlanta area a little over a year ago to follow my dreams of becoming a successful media mogul. The road hasn’t been an easy one. I come from a single parent home and grew up in poverty. I experienced sexual and domestic abuse at a young age. I became pregnant with my first child at the age of fourteen and gave birth at only fifteen years old. I became extremely depressed shortly after due to being in an abusive relationship with my daughter’s father. I was also looked down on by others around me. I was even told that my life would never amount to anything and that I would not even finish high school. Fast forward a few years later, I ended up graduating from high school with honors. I then went on to college and graduated from the University of Louisiana Lafayette, with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, and also a graduated from Full Sail University, with a Master of Science Degree in Entertainment Business.

Shortly after completing graduate school, I started my own media outlet, Unrivaled Magazine. Since then, I have been invited to cover many major award shows, exclusive events, and interviewed many well-known celebrities & public figures. Becoming a mother at only fifteen years old and experiencing such unfortunate events at very a young age was not a deterrent to my success, but instead were some of the circumstances that fueled my ambition to achieve the unimaginable. I want to be an inspiration to others that may be going through similar circumstances. This is why I decided to publish my first book this summer. It is titled “You Can Be A Success Too” It is a motivational success guide where I share personal testimonies and proven formulas for achieving goals. It took alot of hard work and sacrifices to get to where I am today, but it was totally worth it!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not an easy road, I experienced depression and anxiety for many years. This made it difficult to achieve my goals at times. It is hard to show up to events and smile like everything is ok, while you feel like everything is crumbling on the inside. Also, when I first started my media outlet, I left my full-time corporate job. Shortly after my husband was laid off from his job. We ended up getting evicted and had to move in with my in-laws for two years. That was one of the toughest times along this journey. I remember being down to my last dollar. There was a time when I went out to eat with friends and I could only afford to order a soda. I was so embarrassed that I said I had eaten at home and wasn’t hungry. I went home and cried my eyes out because here I was with 2 college degrees, a growing media empire, but BROKE. I knew it was time to regroup and get it together. I vowed never to allow this to happen again.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Unrivaled Media Group story. Tell us more about the business.
