Today we’d like to introduce you to Rogue Dynamo.
Hi Rogue Dynamo, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always loved to create. Since I can remember, I was drawing, singing, taking photos & making music. Eventually, I found a home & culture in HipHop music while I was in middle school. I started off making beats on my computer. From there I was obsessed with taking my poems & making them into song lyrics for HipHop. Over the years I dropped a bunch of mixtapes & started booking shows. I was good at it & I never stopped. It allowed me to travel, get paid, inspire others & experience things I never would’ve gotten to do if I just led a “regular” life. I found my purpose in creation. That journey of music & exploration led me to where I am today.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. This is something you have to love… or it will make you quit. Being a woman in a male dominated industry has its challenges. People not taking you seriously, thinking you’re just a pretty face. Also, having a message & actually being lyrical has its challenges in today’s Rap market. People are so used to meaningless tunes more often than not. When they hear something different, it’s a surprise to them. My goal is to make it a pleasant surprise. That’s just some of the basic challenges I’ve experienced, although there are definitely others.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an all-around Creative. My most favorite form of creation is music. What do I do?? I’m a recording artist & entrepreneur. Although I run a photography business (“Iris Faction Media”) & provide a platform for artists & small businesses through my other entity (“The Skore”)… I’m a music artist 1st & foremost. Being Rogue Dynamo is who I’m known for & what I specialize in. I create moments for those needing something to relate to, or escape from… if only just for a short period of time while they listen to my music or see a performance. My style, delivery & vision is what sets me apart from others. I’m not trying to fit in. I want to make something that stands the test of time.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Being productive. If I’m not taking part in a new experience, working on something great or present in the moment… that’s when I find I’m not happy. So doing those things & living in my purpose… being present…makes me happy.
