Today we’d like to introduce you to Santyanna Webb.
Hi Santyanna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My thought process behind starting my own youth organization started at a very young age for me. At the age of 14, I lost my mother to gun violence. Life as I knew it changed in the blink of an eye. As a child, no matter how you lost your mother, it is a very dark, lonely place. I know oh so well how hard the journey without your mother can be mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I also know that there are so many kids & teenagers all around the world that is experiencing this same pain and suffering. So, I created Millennials Without Mothers. Millennials Without Mothers was created for the youth that have also their mothers. My mission is to help the youth learn how to deal with the pain to eliminate the suffering. We are just getting started, but I am on a mission to make this youth organization one of the greatest.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I thought starting a youth organization would be so easy. I was proven wrong. Not only did I struggle with my confidence that I could actually lead, I also struggled with making connections in the community. Both of those things are very important when it comes to the foundation of a successful youth organization. It took years for me to finally say, “Okay, I’m doing this!” Now that I am at this point, I am on a mission to overcome the struggles of building a successful community. My goal is to have such a successful community that the youth will have an abundance of resources available to them through the community I have built.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Millennials Without Mothers is a youth organization designed to provide support to the youth that have lost their mothers. My goal and commitment is to do my best to turn their pain into power. My ultimate end goal is to open a youth center. “The Greatness Center for Millennials Without Mothers” The Greatness Center will be a place for the youth to come & know that they are not alone. The Greatness Center’s purpose is to empower & provide continuous support for motherless kids. I am most proud of holding on to my vision of my brand for so many years. The loss of my mother at a very young age was tragic and heartbreaking, but I knew that I had to use what I had been through to make a difference in this world. My difference is to give back to the youth. The youth is our future, and I am going to make sure that their future is filled with greatness.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like best about our city is the diversity and culture of our city. I was born and raised here so to see the expansion and the many great opportunities in our city is so amazing. The violence is something I like least about our city. Once we realize that us coming together is more powerful than tearing each other down, our city will become an even greater place.
