Today we’d like to introduce you to Sed The Saint.
Sed “The Saint” is an open-format DJ who hails from the endearing city of New Orleans, Louisiana. With over 10 years on the industry scene, she comes from a long familial line of jazz musicians–three generations of music lovers, makers, and performers who have traveled the world.
DJ Sed specializes in every genre under the Soundcloud sun. Whether it’s hip hop, pop, top of the Billboard charts, house, EDM or oldies, she mixes music like a spicy gumbo. Her career started in college with a fashion show being her first unofficial official gig. Taking her love of sharing music with others and creating mix CDs, she co-founded a DJ group and regularly rocked the house parties, skating rinks, and college events. Since then, her talents have gotten her in front audiences which include celebrities and public figures such as Jamie Foxxx, Alyssa Milano, T.I., John Lewis, and Stacey Abrams. Sed has also performed at notable functions, to name a few: Essence Music Festival, March for Our Lives Atlanta, Power to the Polls Women’s Rally, Atlanta Pride Parade, Human Rights Campaign events, and the annual summer art show ARTiculate ATL. Whether traveling internationally or spinning nationwide, Sed “The Saint” is always the nicest DJ in the mix.
When DJ Sed is not performing, she and her team of partners are avidly building the latest company to rapidly gain popularity within DJ community, StageWing™.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
One of the greatest struggles I have experienced throughout the years has been achieving balance. I currently work a full-time job, sit on a non-profit board (The Let Your Voice Be Heard Foundation), DJ, and put a lot of energy and time into StageWing™. It’s so easy to push sleep, exercise, meditation and genuine social/quality time with loved ones off to side, but those elements I’ve learned will always sustain me. Every once in a while I may fall out of sync but I’m much more intentional about how I spend my time to achieve better balance. Sometimes saying “it can wait” is the best way I can recharge myself and get back on track. It’s not easy – but it’s so necessary for me.
Please tell us about StageWing™.
StageWing™ is the first online DJ rental equipment platform between DJs. It’s an exclusive community of professional DJs who support each other with rental equipment and set up services. What’s cool about it is our renters are able to save time and the headache associated with traveling with their equipment and/ or setting up equipment. They choose from all types of equipment brands like Pioneer, Numark, Roland, EV, QSC, Denon, and Vestax, while our equipment owners earn extra money and meet new dope DJs. It’s a win-win!
The first of its kind, we created StageWing™ to be trusted, supportive community where DJs come together in the spirit of collaboration, not competition.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t change a thing. Although Hurricane Katrina prevented me from going back home after college – staying in Atlanta has allowed me to meet a lot of amazing and inspiring creatives and entrepreneurs. There’s no doubt being here around so many artists and female bosses motivates me daily.
