Today we’d like to introduce you to Serena Jones Dorsey.
Hi Serena, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Being an educator for over 28 years, I came to the realization individuals cannot do what that do not know. I have endeavored to ensure I give WISDOM and knowledge. Training in those areas where there is lack. Specifically, Parenting, Professionalism (Team Building) and Families. Wise Learning Connections is founded on an e3 principal foundation. To Enlighten, Encourage, and Empower individuals.
We endeavor to produce superior results. I have recently published my first book entitled “Passion for Parents.” A tool for parents to help in the effectiveness of parenting. The book speaks to: Parenting Tips, Blended Families, Co-Parenting, Praying for our children, Lessons Learned While Parenting, and The Village. I will continue to impart and give what I have learned through my experiences and my journey as an educator, a professional, a Parent, and most of all, as a believer.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There have definitely been some challenges. I became a mother at 19 years old while in college at Albany State University. I made the decision, I would definitely finish school! Being a naive of New Orleans, I always had the desire to relocate back. I moved back to New Orleans in 2000. Then, in 2005 after being stranded for four days during Hurricane Katrina, I relocated back to Atlanta. 15 years later, here I am, Wife, Mother, MeMe, Executive Director, CEO, Author and so much more! With God ANYTHING is possible!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am currently the Executive Director of Indelible Impressions Learning Center located on the campus of Elizabeth Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA under the leadership of Dr. Craig L. Oliver, Sr. I am known for building teams and loving families. I am most proud when I can see the fruit (impact) of what I have imparted into individuals. What sets me apart from others is my consistent and intentional loving Spirit.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
ABSOLUTELY! My children, who “Ignited” my passion. My parents, who always pushed me to be the BEST me and would not allow me to give up no matter the circumstance. They loved me through the good, bad, and ugly. They are my BIGGEST cheerleaders. My sister, who continues to say how proud she is to have me as her Big Sister and serves on the team of Wise Learning Connections, My BFF, who has walked this journey with me since before we knew where I was heading. My FAMILY (JUnit) is absolutely amazing and supportive!! My mentors and spiritual advisors who ensure I am not stagnant and remain focused.
