Shakerria, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I actually got started at work one day talking to my boss, telling her I wanted to do something for plus-size women, but I didn’t know what. So a few weeks after me having a conversation with her about my plan I started looking for a logo and getting shirts made. The shirts I got made were not the best quality but I was trying too find my way so I started doing more research and actually looking for a company that can make my shirts without them looking cheap and I finally found someone so I went from my shirts looking cheap to great quality! After that, I said my brand is so much more than just for plus-size women. I want to make it for all women no matter the size, shape you are beautiful. At that point I told myself I wanna do something so different actually do something that’s me. So I told myself I wanna own my own makeup brushes because I love makeup so much. I searched for about a year to find a vendor that could make my dreams come true and I did. After a year of searching I own my own 9 pc unicorn makeup brush set. So now, I’m also a YouTuber where my channel is based on being beautiful on a budget. I’m still growing and learning and reaching the top. I’m not where I want to be, but one day I will be♥️ IAMZAFTIG, also means a curvy plush woman.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth ride all the time, especially when you have a vision but don’t know where to start, no one to help you, learning everything on your own. But going through that process has helped me to learn how to do everything. Also, having a brand cost money, so I literally worked my butt off to make my dreams reality.
IAMZAFTIG – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I sell my 9pc unicorn set makeup brushes. I am a beauty influencer, a YouTuber. I am known for my brand IAMZAFTIG. I’m so proud that my company grows every day, whether it’s YouTube or my makeup brushes.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment has been for me is when I sold out of my brushes of having them in stock only for a week. In a week they were gone.
