Today, we’d like to introduce you to Shannon McGuire-Lee. Shannon was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Dr. Cherlisa Jackson.
Shannon, can you walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Lee’s Lounge, LLC started during the Covid-19 lockdown. My husband (Alexis Lee) has been a DJ for over 20 years. We share a love for music and decided to share our gift of music with others. We genuinely believe that the message of love and healing lies within all genres of music. We officially launched Lee’s Lounge, LLC, in August 2022. We started offering virtual parties and some in-person parties (on a small scale). This year we are booking more events, and plan to increase our client base. We have been very successful. Our current clients are repeat customers, and they have sent us several referrals. Our mission is to spread love and healing through music, one record at a time.
Please tell us more about your brand, Lee’s Lounge
Lee’s Lounge, LLC provides virtual and in-person DJ & MC services throughout the State of Georgia. What sets us apart from other companies that provide the same services is that we truly believe that the message of love and healing is in the music. My husband (Alexis Lee) and I both have backgrounds in Mental Health Services. We have been in the Social Service arena for over 25 years. We know firsthand the power of music therapy. We decided to take that knowledge and put it into our DJaying services. As a brand, we are very proud of our work ethic and the quality of service we provide. Since our inception we have offered free services to Non-Profit Organizations. We also pride ourselves on working within the client’s budget without cutting the quality of our services.
So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Dr. Cherlisa Jackson and Sexual Health Education, Esteem, & Relationships, LLC and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Sexual Health Education, Esteem, & Relationships, LLC.
I have the honor of calling Dr. Cherlisa Jackson my Sister. We both are members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated is an organization of professional, educated women who believe in and live our founding principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood & Finer Womanhood. I had the pleasure of serving as the host, and Dr. Jackson was the moderator during one of our International Candidates Forum for our home chapter (Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Kappa Iota Zeta Chapter, East Point, Georgia). The focus of the forum was to get to know the candidates running for the position of International President of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. Per the candidate’s feedback, Dr. Jackson made them feel at ease and she was able to pull things out of them that other moderators couldn’t. They also stated that Dr. Jackson’s personality is very inviting and loving.
Dr. Jackson and I both have an extensive background in Mental Health. I’ve served in the Mental Health arena for 25 years and counting. We both have had our personal struggles with mental health, and we are determined to be a voice for those that can’t speak for themselves. We are both living proof that no one is immune to struggling with mental health. We both use those struggles to assist others with their mental health struggles.
