Shantia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Seriously Creative Designs was birthed out of my genuine passion to be a blessing to others. After, suddenly being laid off from my corporate job as a Treasury Analyst for six years and finding out that I was pregnant with my second son, I knew I needed to find a new job. A former co-worker and I began to talk about how the unexpected layoff had affected both of us and how now was the time to give 100% toward becoming an entrepreneur. I found myself sharing with her my spiritual belief that “All things work together for the good, to those who love God…” (Romans 8:28). I stated that we must continue to trust God to make a way, even when it seems to be no way. In my heart, I was certain that God had a plan for both of us.
I have always enjoyed using the advancement of technology to enhance my passion for creating personal multimedia projects. One day, after scrolling through my former coworkers’ website for a small business she had started years ago, I noticed that it did not visually reflect her passion and expertise that she has for the fashion industry. I wanted to help her but was very hesitant in asking if I could revamp her website because I didn’t want to offend her in any way or downplay what she already had. Surprisingly, after presenting my idea to her, she enthusiastically said “Yes!”
After I completed the project, she was amazed by the transformation of her beautiful revamped website. Something ignited in me that confirmed that I had a “Creative Eye.” In my business, I strive to empower, uplift and encourage women entrepreneurs to walk by faith and become everything that God designed them to be. I am thankful for the collaboration that I have with one of Atlanta’s most premier graphic designers, Jarvis McColumn.
Collaborating with my colleague plays a major role in the success of Seriously Creative Designs. With his creative eye & skill level and my creative eye & vision, it is a perfect blend to create masterpieces from one simple idea. Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The excitement of beginning something new can have many challenges. The struggle that I face is trying to start a business with limited resources. Even though this may appear to be an obstacle, my Faith reassures me that my business will be everything I dreamed of because I Trust God, His process and His timing. I believe when your business is “God-Led and God-Fed, you cannot fail!”

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, what I would do differently is to apply for a business loan. This would enable me to hire a larger staff of designers and implement various marketing strategies to expand my business.
