Meet Shaquita Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaquita Smith.

Hi Shaquita, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am from a city called Birmingham, Alabama with big dreams of becoming one of the biggest actresses that the world has ever seen! I started out in Theatre – full scholarship at Troy State University, from there, I left and moved to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue my career… I went to Atlanta, Georgia to receive another degree at American Intercontinental University where I received a Business Degree. My father told that I couldn’t pursue acting unless I have something else to fall back on.

If you know me, then you know my career as an actor is my #1 priority. In 2016, I landed a role on NCIS:New Orleans and later landed other tv roles on Tyler Perry, New Amsterdam and also BET HER – Baby Blue.

My career has really elevated and taking a shift that I wanted it to go this year! Please look out for upcoming projects that I have that’s coming out! This summer you can catch me as “Charlene”. On Gravesend Season 2 ❤️

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The struggles I have faced is being able to accept rejection and continue to push forward.

I really took rejection to my heart and started doubting my skills and happiness for it.

So what I did was start meditation,l, truly working on my craft and finding the happiness back again.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Honestly, I’m proud of allllllllllll my work! I enjoy seeing what I can bring in different characters! I’m known for NCIS:New Orleans, I’m also known for BET-HER: Baby Blue …. please also check me out on “Gravesend” on Amazon – Season 2 premieres this summer playing alongside Chris Mormando, William Demeo, Jen Jacobs and more.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
As an African American woman, I believe the doors will continue to open for us to do variety of roles. The shift will be accepting all individuals and embracing our own individuality.
