Today we’d like to introduce you to Sly and KartierDaDon.
Both Sly and KartierDaDon were born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. After going off to college in different states, they soon returned home to Atlanta post-college. The Melting Pot started like most ventures and businesses as an idea. Sly being (1/2) hosts of The Melting Pot Podcast is a recent college graduate, audio production professional, screenwriter, and idealist. She likes to say that success isn’t just about what you accomplish in our life, it’s about what you inspire others to do.
KartierDaDon being the Melting Pot’s other counterpart is a student, entrepreneur, PR agent, and visionary. He often likes to say write the vision and make it plain. They aspired to always become entrepreneurs and to do something they can involve their passions in. They adore the fact that their podcast allows them to work from home, inform, and entertain lives.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was never easy to get recognized. Challenges of production and guest speaker cancellation often contributed to times of doubt. We knew that we had the potential, we wanted to take the combination of our mixed personalities, and apply it in a way that would catch the attention of all age groups. We used to spend countless amounts of hours networking on various podcast Facebook groups to get the word out. However, the biggest struggle of all is balance.
The Melting Pot – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Melting Pot represents all things culture. We are here to bring you the latest all while remaining true to ourselves.
Sly possessing the role of both the production manager and editor. She believes they have a reputation of being very critical when it comes to creating programs that sound unique. Where some podcasters just want to press record and start talking, I truly do believe that a podcast needs to have a brand sound.
You wouldn’t believe how many podcasts I have listened to that don’t create a quality listening experience. In other words, the host of the podcast doesn’t consider the listener’s time. Instead, they just banter on without giving any reason to listen to the podcast. The Melting Pot prides itself on creating a balanced and upbeat safe space for everyone’s input. Our ultimate goal is to make sure listeners and guests don’t feel like they’re at a conference or interview more like a family reunion.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
As we continue this long journey, we wanted to share what we have accomplished recently which is our 2,000 episode download. In addition to our growing fanbase, we have also finished recording the 2nd season of our podcast so be on the lookout for that August 9th.
