Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Thompkins.
Sophia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started out as a Brand Ambassador booking through 8 days a week, ATN Promo, and Fusion Event Staffing for clients such as McDonald’s, Coca Cola, and Adultswim, just to name a few. I have always had a natural knack for marketing and a sincere entrepreneurial spirit. I used to flip my allowance money in high school by selling candy. Business concepts come naturally to me as I have helped many of my surrounding friends with their business and marketing strategies. My corporate career in marketing started in 2011 as I was gainfully employed by YP (Yellowpages now DexYP) honing in my skills and applying them to my own practices as a freelance marketing professional. After years of consulting and promotions for other companies, I decided to finally make STInc the CEO its own entity and placing my funkiness into the industry of today! I consider myself a Jackie of All Trades! Never afraid to take life and keep it moving.
Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely not. I truly believe that God places his strongest soldiers in the toughest battles. Not because he does not like them but because he trusts them to fight. For someone who does not have a college degree, the mere piece of paper can hinder a person so much I have had to get over my fear of applying for employment that society says I do not qualify for but with all the “nos” I have received YP told me, yes and I have been able to use my experience not societies piece of paper to dive into an industry that says I don’t fit!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the STINC story. Tell us more about the business.
STINC the CEO or STINC is a Brand Strategist- Turning passions into purpose! Simply put, I like to help small businesses move from just a vision to reality.
My company offers the following: concept consultations. Social media and marketing strategies, websites, logos, photography, media & small productions.
After years of “doing it” for others, I am finally “do it” for myself.
Everyone has a unique fingerprint; there is no one else in the world that has yours. I challenge myself to do that with your business and that is what sets me apart from others.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
As technology advances so will the industry change with the times. There will be new platforms, new ways to communicate, and communication as we know it today will become obsolete. So as this happens, of course, I will have to stay up to date with trends and projections to keep up.
