Meet Stephanie Robertson of Luxe Plus Life Blog in Stockbridge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Robertson.

Stephanie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As cliche as this sounds… my love of fashion and style started back when I was a little girl, I was the girl with Barbie in tow wherever I went. I was also the girl who had to have her room just like photos in a teen magazine. I was always the “Larger” girl in my class… not exactly “Fat.” I defined what it meant to be “Thick”, larger thighs and chest… a little more meat than all the other girls. I battled my mother on what was deemed “Stylish” for a young lady. I wore things out of the ladies dept until my parents allowed me to be more creative… which was when I went to high school. I learned how to dress my body in the most appropriate, yet trendy way. This was an accomplishment being that I was in a sea of short shorts and crop tops. This fueled the love I have for fashion, with a focus on dressing in ways that most, dare I say “Flatter” your body type. I knew how to shop on a budget, yet look expensive at any size… that’s how Luxe “Plus” Life.com was born. I knew someone, even if it’s just one single person, could benefit off of my style ideas and advice.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not at all! Becoming an influencer had had its struggles. In this world of social media that changes quicker then the weather in Georgia! Lol!  I struggle with the need to be relevant.  Even non-influencers are concerned on why their particular photo didn’t reach theirs like requirements. We often measure our worth in “Likes” and “follows” and we feel that brands do as well. I have re-branded once, up-ed my quality in photos and sourced brands to work with me so that I could produce content to inspire my curvy babes! I’m seeing growth in me and my brand… but the numbers don’t always reflect the same, I’m thankful to have friends and peers in this industry (You shall remain nameless… but you know who you are!) who often remind me to just stay focused. My tribe also told me not to play the comparison game. This has been hard for me, BUT I refuse to change my style aesthetic to fit the plus size “Insta-Model” mold we are seeing more and more.

Another struggle is time, I work a full-time job that requires 50 hours per week MINIMUM and I’m honestly exhausted when I’m off! Lol! I doing a lot better managing my time to be able to produce content. This is important in order to lay the proper foundation to what I really want to do with my life!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Luxe Plus Life Blog story. Tell us more about it.
LuxePlusLife.com is a plus size Fashion blog. I created my blog to inspire woman to look your best at any size! I use unpopular words in the plus-size community like “Flattering” and “Slimming” while still encouraging them to love and most importantly accept your body as you are

I feel like if you want to remain your size and your 100% comfortable with your body, YAY FOR YOU GIRL!! Let’s generate the best version of you we can, as you are, right now! However, I also feel that if you love yourself, but want to change things about yourself, that’s ok too! Many Plus-size ladies that have gotten fit and lost weight get publicly reprimanded and called a “traders” because they did things that they felt made them better. It’s their body… right?

But back to what specifically do, I am laying down the foundation for a career in styling peoples lives! My platform will always be dripped in outfit inspirations and shopping tips, however, I’m on a mission to include styling services pertaining to personal image, organization and home decor.

I feel like I have the gift to style any person… no matter what size. I have to gift of channeling persons aesthetic and really defining their style. Another strength is that I have the shopping skills that allow me to give a person what they want in their budget, wearing a name brand or a really hot trend does NOT equate great style! I can teach a level of discernment that people need to really blossom into their personal and distinct style.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Yall dont kill me. but I really don’t believe in luck! I feel like it all boils into input v.s output, simple as that! I have also been guilty of asking “Why Me?” Now, I challenge myself to ask myself “Why Not Me” and “What is this trying to teach me?”

I will say, I have learned that you need to learn and take account of what’s is working in your business and what’s not working. Don’t linger on the things that are not working, make sure you give it the best try you know how to… step back, access, and eliminate. We all have learned the quote pertaining to the definition of insanity right? Well, this can mentally be translated as “Bad Luck” or failure. It’s not either of the two… but a new layer or knowledge you can not build upon.
