Meet Steven Brooks Carpenter of Be A Star Entertainment in Marietta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Brooks Carpenter.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started Be A Star Entertainment because I was looking for a unique business idea for years that would allow me to use my creativity and passion for service and also give me the chance to leave corporate America. I had been in technology sales for 16 years and looking at different ideas for many years, but when I had a fatality in my family that changed everything. My heart was not into my corporate job anymore and then suddenly one day I got a phone call from a guy in New York offering me to buy his entertainment business! I loved the idea and the journey to start my business finally began! I have also been in a cover band for the past four years playing for private parties and weddings so expanding full time into the entertainment business felt natural.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It was a challenging juggling act in the beginning because I was still working full time in my corporate job when I first started the business. Our first big gig was actually in Charleston, SC for a large corporate party and a Bar Mitzvah so I had to get trained quickly on green screen technology as well as train staff quickly for a 3-day overnight road trip.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Be A Star Entertainment – what should we know?
Be A Star Entertainment is a Corporate Events and Parties Entertainment company that provides unique ideas for corporate events, parties, weddings, Bar Mitzvahs or any special occasion.

Our most popular product is called “Dance Heads” music videos. Dance Heads is a really, fun interactive entertainment that use green screen technology to superimpose “bobble heads” over dancing figures in popular music videos and action adventures. We are the only licensed dealer in Georgia offering the Dance Heads latest technology that uses email addresses to provide the guests an instant copy of their video performance to share with friends and family!

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My wife first of all deserves the most credit, because she has supported my sometimes seemingly crazy dream to get into the entertainment business after so many years in a well-paying “stable job” in corporate America.

I have a great mentor Darold, who is my Dance Heads partner in California and has many more years of extensive experience in the industry and has been an invaluable advisor to me.

I also want to thank my son Brandon, who has been an inspiration to me for many years. Despite being handicapped in a wheelchair with muscular dystrophy, a terminal condition, he continued to smile and inspire me and countless others with his joy for life and superheroes. He will always be my favorite superhero.
