Today we’d like to introduce you to Shreya Srinivasan.
Shreya, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up in Mumbai, India and having trailed my parents as they traveled around the world thanks to my Father’s career as a ship captain I have become an enthusiastic traveler and am a person constantly looking for insights and an “aaha moment”.
After numerous internships, a Diploma in Drama and pursuing a bachelors in mass communication I just knew that a Masters in advertising was what I needed to kickstart my career. It’s taken countless sleepless nights, innumerable mugs of coffee, unrelenting determination and tons of hard work but I am finally set to graduate in June 2019! As a fresh creative out of grad school, aspiring to get paid for the big ideas I am working towards creating good content that resonates with the Target Audience for various brands.
Moving away from my city, family and friends has definitely been a tough decision but I am so grateful to them for their constant support and virtual hugs.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I had an awesome childhood with the world’s best parents and sister. The last year has been extremely tough as I lost someone very close to me. However, I am so grateful for the people in my life, friends, and family who stood by me. Moving to Atlanta has made me get to know myself better both professionally as well as personally. Living abroad is most often glorified on various social media platforms but the challenges that come with it are never really talked about.
It’s so much more than just posting cool pictures on Instagram. It’s about staying up at odd hours to talk to your loved ones, it’s about being there for all the important moments of people in your life back home but on video call, it’s about making the time, Its about virtual hugs! Shoutout to my friends and family in Atlanta (y’all know who you are) thank you for making this city feel like home!

I am currently doing my Masters in Advertising at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).

I believe luck plays a huge role in life. But having said that I do not believe in “things will just fall into place”. You have to have the determination and go out there!
