Today we’d like to introduce you to SuperDope Q.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
A lot of people aren’t aware of this but my first styling gig was with singer and actor, Jacob Latimore. He’s my blood cousin and we’re both from Milwaukee. He’s been very supportive and instrumental in my career. As he was growing and gaining attention, I was able to grow with him and have more eyes on my creative work as a stylist. From there I was introduced to Coach K and The Migos, which put me in a position to make an imprint and build my name within the industry.
I credit actress and comedian Lala Milan for linking me with Ceaser of Black Ink Crew. Because of her, he has become a huge influence and inspiration. He has given me the opportunity to style him but also a chance to grow my businesses and brand, even allowing me to show to the world my personality as a new addition to the television franchise. Now I’m focusing on my many endeavors and excited to share with everyone my latest project, Hair Dope. People always recognize and compliment the hair coloring that I decided to turn it into a business. Later this year, I will be launching my kit, Hair Dope to help people achieve the hair color looks that they’ve seen on me via my socials.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Success doesn’t come without any bumps in the road. I am a young Black man that’s motivated and committed to establishing generational wealth, which is why I am going hard in all that I do. There have been days where deciding between eating or investing in my business have been the only two options. The struggles that come with being an entrepreneur are so real, but I wouldn’t trade my hustle and experience in for nothing. It made me who I am today and put me in the position to keep building the SuperDope Q brand.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am my business, which is what I’m the proudest of. My style, my personality, and gifts are what draw people to me. I consider myself to be an image consultant. I help people elevate their brand by transforming their look into a better version of who they are. It takes a good eye and creativity to do so, that’s why I’m SuperDope lol.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was really into style and music. I was naturally the center of attention and stood out among the rest. I was very outspoken and well dressed. I played football in high school, won Prom King, and was deemed best dressed by my peers. It’s never a dull moment with me around, that’s for sure.
